Azure AKS Platform Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Azure AKS Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team and help us achieve this goal.

What you are going to do

As a Platform Engineer on AKS, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining and improving our Kubernetes platform that hosts multiple production workloads, including mission-critical ones.

The NN Container Platform consists of multiple distinct platforms built on top of Azure AKS,  Amazon EKS and Amazon EKS Hybrid nodes. It is our mission to empower NN’s engineers by offering them a highly scalable, managed Cloud-Native platform that integrates the best fitting technologies, all according to NN security and compliancy standards. It is your job to make sure that compute resources are provisioned, policy management is taken care of, security integrations are done, operational metrics and dashboards are available, and more to deliver an enterprise grade Kubernetes platform in Azure. This should enable NN’s engineers to focus on developing their microservices on top of the platform.

Your responsibilities

• You enable the business to focus on where it matters and adds value; developing microservices
• You deliver one of NN’s most advanced hosting solutions based on Kubernetes on Azure, used by DevOps teams to host their containerized microservices
• You develop rock-solid add-ons within our Kubernetes platform using GitOps processes and tools (based on projects from the CNCF ecosystem), that make a short time to market possible and help our developers deliver secure, cost efficient and stable services
• You are operationally responsible for the smooth sailing of the platform
• By applying smart design principles, you help reduce the price per container, which minimizes the cost footprint

• Salary between €5,765 and €8,236 depending on your knowledge and experience (based on 36 hours)

Who you are

You are a beacon of positivity and energy, inspiring everyone around you. Your innovative mindset means you're always brimming with new ideas, seeing possibilities, and learning from every situation. You recognize yourself in several of the following skills and experiences:

• 4 to 5 years of experience working with Kubernetes, particularly on Azure AKS
• Solid Azure cloud knowledge and experience, including Networking, PaaS, IaaS, and IAM
• Proficiency in GitOps deployment management
• Skilled in writing TypeScript code
• Preferably, some experience with popular CNCF technologies such as ArgoCD, Istio, Cilium, and Knative
• CKA or CKAD certified is a plus
• Ability to think about system and platform designs at scale

Moreover, you possess the following soft skills:

• You derive energy from coaching and mentoring younger/junior team members
• Ability to enable and train our end users to develop and deploy microservices on the platform while following best practices
• Strong communication skills (in English), along with excellent analytical and collaboration abilities

You will be part of the AKS Platform Team, which is part of NN's Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. In this environment, you will also find the CI/CD and Internal Developer Platform teams as your direct colleagues.
